You can text FREE from an iPod Touch or iPhone. It’s a very simple app you’ll need and it’s easy to use. Simply go to the iTunes App Store and download textPlus to your iPod Touch or iPhone.

It’s not required that you have a textPlus address but they’re are many advantages to having one. Your textPlus Address makes having a cell # unnecessary, even if your friends don’t have textPlus! As long as your friends have a text plan they can text your textPlus address as a message. All they need to do is put your textplus address(ex. tina32) in under their contacts with the phone number of 60611. For your friends, texting to 60611 costs the same as their regular text plan.

About 60611
If your using an iPod Touch you will need to get a textPlus address if you want friends/family to initiate conversations. If you choose not to get a textPlus address you will need to initiate conversations. 60611 is the short code that lets your friends who don’t have the app reach you in textPlus. Ask friends and family to put your textPlus Address into their contacts under the name with the phone number 60611. This way, your incoming texts will go to textPlus (and remain free to you). For your friends, texting to 60611 costs the same as their regular text plan.
